Stephen Fitzgerald

June 12, 1954 — December 4, 2018

STURBRIDGE – Stephen D. FitzGerald, 64, of First Street, died Tuesday, December 4, 2018, at UMass Memorial Medical Center – University Campus in Worcester, after a short illness. He is survived by his son, Robert C. FitzGerald and his wife Jennifer of Dudley; his mother, Maxine (Westcott) FitzGerald of Upton; two sisters, Debbie Turner of Oxford and Linna Cleggett of Brookfield; three grandchildren, Sydney, Conor, and Madyson Fitzgerald, all of Dudley; and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a son, Stephen D. FitzGerald II who died in 2001; a grandson, Joshua S. FitzGerald who died in 2017; and a brother, John FitzGerald. He was born in Rutland, VT, son of the late Maynard FitzGerald, and lived in Vermont, Worcester, and Oxford before moving to Sturbridge.

Mr. FitzGerald worked as at Saint Gobain in Worcester for 44 years, most recently as a research technician. He loved woodworking and muscle cars. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and attending their sporting events.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 7, 2018, at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at North Cemetery in Oxford. A calling hour will be Friday from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dudley Fire Family Relief Fund, c/o Webster Five, 208 West Main St., Dudley, MA 01571.
