DUDLEY -- Robert F Stevens, 79, a long time resident of Dudley, Massachusetts, passed away Wednesday, Feb 24, 2010.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sylvia Lois (Fitts) Stevens: four sons, Robert Stevens Jr. and his wife Shirley of Sierra Vista, Arthur Stevens of Sierra Vista, Bruce Stevens and his wife Ann of Sierra Vista, and Michael Stevens and his wife Susan of Woodstock, Connecticut; a daughter, Cynthia Shropshire and her husband Mick of Albany, New York; a brother, William Stevens and his wife Floris of Oxford, Mass; a sister, Phyllis Thurlow of Killingly, Conn; 11 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and many nephews and nieces.
He was born April 20, 1930, in Killingly, Ct. the son of the late Harvey M. and Ethel M. (Allen) Stevens.

Bob is preceded in death by two brothers, George Stevens of Webster, Mass, and John Stevens of Plainfield, Conn; five sisters, Eleanor Forcier of Leicester, MA, Arlene Johnson of Leicester, MA, Dorothy Stevens of Worcester, MA, Alice Slingo of Oxford, MA and Ruth Stevens of Webster, MA.

Bob served his country in the US Army as a military police officer. He received his Army Occupation Medal (Germany), He was a member of the Grand Lodge of Massachusetts, 24th Masonic District and just received his 50-year pin. Bob worked for the US Postal Service until retiring in 1990, before relocating to Sierra Vista AZ.

Bob enjoyed traveling, spending time at the local casinos, acting as tour guide to their visitors in Arizona, and most of all enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., on Friday, March 5, 2010, at Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at Westridge Cemetery, Charlton. Calling hours are Thursday, March 4, 2010 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
