Biography

OXFORD -- Anita B. Bedard, 85, of Oxford, died on December 14, 2010 in her home after a courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Leonard J. Bedard of Oxford; three children, Linda M. Balcunas of Oxford, Jay L. Bedard and his wife Kathy of Dudley, and Robin L. Pellerin of Maine; her sister, Pauline Millett and her husband Earl of Leicester; her sister-in-law, Winifred Menard and her husband Leo of Las Vegas, NV; five grandchildren, Joshua S. Balcunas and his wife Andrea of Charlton, Jessica L. Waters and her husband Seth of Charlton; Ryan O. Collins of CT, Rose Pierce of Dudley, and Michael Laderman of Dudley; her great granddaughter, Kennadie T. Balcunas of Charlton; her great grandson, Joshua Derby of Dudley; nephews and nieces. She was born in Leicester, the daughter of the late Horace and Marie Cormier, and lived most of her life in Oxford. She graduated from Leicester High School in Leicester.

Mrs. Bedard enjoyed quilting and taught quilting at the Oxford Senior Center. She volunteered at local hospitals where she worked with babies and made quilts for babies with AIDS. She loved sewing and enjoyed the occasional trip to Foxwoods with her sister. The greatest joys in her life were her garden and her family.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 17, 2010, at North Cemetery, Main St., Oxford. There are no calling hours. Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, is directing the arrangements.
