Alice M. Foote

OXFORD – Alice M. (Johnson) Foote, 100, of Depot Road, died Tuesday, September 22, 2026, in her home.

She was predeceased by her husband of 68 years, Proctor Brigham Foote who died in 2013. She is survived by four children, Andrew Foote and his wife Susan of Oxford, Matthew Foote and his wife Linda of Oxford, Amy Clouthier and her husband James of Oxford, and Jon Foote of Quinebaug, CT; her daughter-in-law, Karen Foote of Wareham; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her son, Timothy P. Foote; her infant daughter, Melanie Foote; four brothers, Howard Johnson, George Johnson, Homer Johnson, and Robert Johnson; and her sister, Lois Janse.

She was born in Woodstock, CT, daughter of the late Harry and Anna (Johnson) Johnson, and lived in Oxford since 1954. She graduated from Woodstock Academy in Woodstock, CT.

Mrs. Foote was a homemaker for most of her life, caring for her home and family. In her younger years, she worked at American Optical in Southbridge. She was a longtime member of the First Congregational Church in Oxford, and volunteered for Central Mass Hospice in Auburn. She enjoyed living on the farm and gardening.

The family would like to thank Alice’s Tri-Valley caregivers, Fran and Josie; VNA Care Hospice who were extremely helpful; and her longtime housekeeper Jean.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 14, 2026, at the First Congregational Church, 355 Main St., Oxford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Congregational Church, P.O. Box 585, Oxford, MA 01540, or to the VNA Care Hospice, 67 Millbrook St., 500 North, Worcester, MA 01606.
