OXFORD – Angela A. Muscetta-Smith, 53, of Oak Street, died Wednesday, March 8, 2023, in her home. She is survived by her husband of 26 years, Warren L. Smith of Oxford; two sons, Ethan B. Smith and Tyler O. Smith, both of Oxford; her mother, Antonia (Cannistra) Muscetta of Oxford; her sister, Geraldine R. Muscetta of Belchertown; two aunts, Rosa DiBert of Montreal, Canada, and Adele Dellacave of Florida; her mother-in-law, Lola Smith of North Scituate, RI; her brother-in-law, Scudder Smith and his wife Joey Chen of Taipei, Taiwan; her sister-in-law, Rachel Dubuque and her husband Roger of Watertown; her niece, Sophie Dubuque of Watertown; and many cousins. She was born in New York City, NY, daughter of the late Giorgio Muscetta, and lived in Oxford for 20 years. She graduated from St. Catherine’s Academy in the Bronx, received her bachelor’s degree from Manhattan College, and received her master’s degree in Special Education from Simmons University.
Mrs. Muscetta-Smith was a special education teacher at Burncoat High School in Worcester for 15 years. Previously, she worked at Perkins School for the Blind in Watertown. She loved teaching and will be remembered for her dedication to her students. Angela learned sign language and how to read braille to communicate with her sister. She loved antiquing, birdwatching, nature, and wine tasting.
Angela was an avid Patriots fan. She was a hometown hero for the Worcester Red Sox, and participated in an event for people fighting cancer on the field at Gillette Stadium. Her students supported her and were affectionately known as “Muscetta’s Monsters.” She will be remembered as a creative person and will be greatly missed by her family.
Memorial calling hours are Saturday, March 18, 2023, from 12:00 noon – 3:00 p.m. at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main Street, Oxford. A prayer service will be held on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. at the conclusion of calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284-9168.
