OXFORD – It is with great sadness that the family of Anita A. (Lafleche) Prunier announces that she passed away on Saturday, January 17, 2026, after several years of declining health. She was 99 years old.
Anita was born in Southbridge on September 4, 1926, daughter of the late Cecilia (Perron) Lafleche and Alfred Lafleche. She was the fifth of 11 children. Anita had 6 brothers, Emile, Paul, Andre, Alfred, Richard, and Robert; and four sisters, Theresa, Albina, Claire, and Marie; all of whom predeceased her. Anita attended parochial schools in Southbridge, and after school worked at American Optical, Lippy’s Market, and LaValle’s Pharmacy, all in Southbridge. Later in life, she worked at CVS in Auburn for several years.
Anita married David F. Prunier in 1948. They lived in Southbridge for several years before moving to Oxford in 1954, where they lived together until David’s death in 2000. Anita and David were blessed with 7 children, Patricia (deceased in 1986) (daughter Sarah Travers), Ronald (wife Diane) (daughters Melissa Sanchez, Katherine Toscano), Kenneth (wife Wendy) (sons Matthew Prunier, Timothy Prunier, Daniel Prunier [deceased]), Paulette Pratico (husband Michael) (sons John Pratico, Joseph Pratico), Marie Boss (husband Michael) (daughters Kristie Boss, Elizabeth Hurley, Jacqueline Guittar), Norman (daughters Anne Huber, Mary Sujo, Neicha Prunier), and Ellen Prunier (husband John Bertholet) (son Bryan Conlon, daughter Devan Arsenault).
Anita was also blessed with 29 great-grandchildren, Jared, Nicholas, Ethan, Samantha, William, Olivia, Brendan, Jack, Emma, Lincoln, Jackson, Harper, Ava, Collin, Ella, Alexander, Zachary, Kaylei, Norah, Clara, Paris, Owen, Wyatt, Charlotte, Natalie, Kaidan, Ronan, Avalon, and Harleigh; and two great-great-grandchildren, Hazel and Rowen; and one on the way.
Anita’s life was dedicated to her husband, David, her seven children, and many descendants. Anita was a member of Saint Roch’s Parish in Oxford.
The family would like to thank the entire staff at Care One in Millbury, for the compassionate care given to our mother over the last five years.
A funeral will be held on Friday, January 23, 2026, from Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, followed by a Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Roch’s Church, 332 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at St. Roch’s Cemetery in Oxford. Calling hours are Thursday, January 22, 2026, from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
