OXFORD – Ann Elizabeth (Viel) Eckl, 53, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 17, 2017, in Florida, after a courageous five-year battle with melanoma. Ann is survived by her loving husband Ludwig; her three children, Sarah, Paul, and Katherine; her grandson Damien; her mother, Katherine of Oxford; her brothers and sisters, Diana M. Peterson and her husband George of Grafton, Lawrence L. Viel Jr. and his wife Cynthia of Charlton, Michael P. Viel and his wife Sheila of Charlton; Daniel J. Viel and his wife Sandra of Oxford; Kathleen M. Saad and her husband Alfred of Thompson, CT, Mary Tolic and her husband Mato of Oxford, and Patricia Viel of Warwick, RI; and many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her father, Lawrence L. Viel Sr., who died in 2009.
Ann graduated from Oxford High School in 1982 and later pursued a degree in Occupational Therapy. She dedicated her career to helping special needs children. Ann was a loving daughter, wife, mother, sister, and grandmother, and was loved by all.
There will be no calling hours. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Ann’s Church in North Oxford, at a date to be determined by the family. Burial will follow at North Cemetery in Oxford.
