Ann Mita

October 21, 1951 — February 3, 2021

Oxford

OXFORD - On February 3, 2021, Ann M. (Zibinskas) Mita passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family at age 69.  She was the loving mother of Amy Steiger, son-in-law Tony Polletta of Oxford, and son Jesse  Steiger of Ellsworth ME; cherished grandmother of John Steiger of Ellsworth ME, and Anthony Polletta IV of Oxford; and dear sister of Aileen Z. Montour of Roslindale.

She also leaves her lifelong friends from Ballard Street, especially Ann Champagne, Helga Reckner and Bernie Michaude and several cousins.  Her husband Thomas Mita predeceased her; she was previously married to Donald Steiger, father of her children.  Born in Worcester, she was the daughter of Rosemary and John Zibinskas.   She attended schools in Worcester, graduated from Burncoat Senior High School and attended the Woodstock Festival before heading to the west coast where she worked at Blue Cross and did some traveling. Returning east, she then worked in a cancer research laboratory and the Post Offices in Boston and Worcester.

She is remembered for her generous loving heart and her crazy sense of humor that got her through every day and every challenge. She was a fabulous cook, loved her Moody Blues music and all of her beloved dog companions who traveled this path with her (Rocket, Dylan, Peaches, Arlo, Rosie and Snoopy) - she'll be with you on the other side.

Due to the current Covid-19 situation, a memorial service will be held at a later date when we can safely gather together to remember and celebrate Ann's life.  Donations in her memory may be sent to the Worcester Animal Rescue League, 139 Holden St, Worcester MA 01606.  Paradis-Givner Funeral Home is directing the arrangements.  To leave a message for the family or sign the online guestbook, please visit paradisfuneralhome.com
