THOMPSON, CT – Anthony D. (Nelson) Martocci, 55, of Lehtinen Road, died Thursday, April 14, 2022, in his home after a courageous battle with esophageal cancer, with his wife by his side. He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Jennifer J. (Socha) Martocci of Thompson; two daughters, Olivia A. Martocci and Sophia L. Martocci, both of Thompson; his mother, Joann (Martocci) Benoit of Worcester; his sister, Lisa M. Rizzuti and her husband David of North Grosvenordale; two nephews and one niece, J.C. Gallivan Jr. Dominic Rizzuti, and Rosalea Rizzuti, all of North Grosvenordale. He was predeceased by his father, Herbert W. Nelson, Jr. He was born in Worcester and lived in Auburn and Worcester before moving to Thompson five years ago. He graduated from Auburn High School in 1984.
Tony was a patient access service representative at UMass Memorial Hospital in Worcester for 12 years. Previously, he worked as a salesman at Rotman’s and Bernie and Phyl’s furniture stores. He held various other positions in his youth before settling into his career. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. In his youth, he enjoyed bowling, attending Patriots games, playing cards, and playing Sunday Morning Softball for Art’s Diner. He loved the ocean and was a lifelong Parrot head. Tony loved cooking, enjoyed watching cooking shows, and always dreamed of owning a breakfast and lunch diner. Most important in his life was spending with this his family, and especially his daughters. Together they enjoyed family vacations in Falmouth and spending time by the ocean.
Calling hours are Tuesday, April 19, 2022, from 9:30 a.m. –12 noon at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. A service will be held on Tuesday at 12 noon at the conclusion of calling hours. Flowers are welcome or donations may be made to “The Martocci Family GoFundMe,” to help alleviate financial concerns Jen and her daughters.
