Barbara Lamountain

OXFORD – Barbara (Welcome) LaMountain, 84, of Federal Hill Road, died peacefully in her home on Wednesday, February 16, 2022.  She was predeceased by her husband of 35 years, Richard T. “Hoss” LaMountain Sr. who died in 1991; a son, Richard T. LaMountain Jr. who died in 2002; and a brother-in-law, Donald Alberts who died in 2020.  She is survived by five children, James LaMountain of Holland, Susan Letscher and her husband John of Whitinsville, Henry LaMountain and his wife Holly of Oxford, Peter LaMountain and his wife Christine of Oxford, and Theresa Maher and her husband John of Deland, FL; her brother, Richard Welcome and his wife Pamela of Worcester; her sister, Shirley Alberts of Pennsylvania; many grandchildren and even more great-grandchildren.  She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Richard R. and Anita “Ora” (Pollier) Welcome, and lived in Oxford for 62 years.

Mrs. LaMountain held several jobs that she enjoyed, and spent many years caring for her home and family.  She was a member of St. Ann’s Church in North Oxford and generously supported the Oxford Animal Shelter.  She volunteered for Meals on Wheels as well as many other organizations throughout her life.  She enjoyed going to the Dudley Senior Center and playing Pitch daily with her friends.  She loved her family and animals, and was grateful for all her blessings.  She was generous and kind to everyone she met.

A private graveside service will be held at St. Roch’s Cemetery in Oxford.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Sterling Animal Shelter, 17 Laurelwood Rd., Sterling, MA 01564.  Paradis-Givner Funeral Home in Oxford is directing the arrangements.
