Catherine Monfreda

OXFORD - Catherine A. (Peters) Monfreda, 88, of Liberty Lane, died Tuesday, August 16, 2011, at the Rose Monahan Hospice Residence in Worcester. She was predeceased by her husband of 42 years, Frank A. Monfreda of Oxford who died in 1984. She is survived by six children, Louise K. Wright and her husband Bruce of Brooklyn, CT, Diane M. Zielinski and her husband Richard of Sutton, Gail F. Gould and her husband Donald of Oxford, Debra C. Cosway and her husband Edward of Oxford, Bruce A. Monfreda of Worcester, and James P. Monfreda and his wife Sheryl of Oxford; nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by two brothers, Alec Peters and Theodore "Ted" Peters, both of Worcester; and a sister, Dorothy C. Peters of Worcester. She was born in Worcester, the daughter of the late William and Christine (Jacobson) Peters, and lived in Worcester before moving to Oxford in 1953. She graduated from Worcester Girls Trade High School in 1942. Mrs. Monfreda was a waitress at Al and Ray's Diner in Webster for over 10 years. She enjoyed being with her family, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 20, 2011, at Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at St. Roch's Cemetery, Oxford. Calling hours are Friday, August 19, 2011, from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the V.N.A.
