Claire D. Lapierre

OXFORD – Claire D. (Bassett) Lapierre, 94, of Quobaug Avenue, died peacefully on Friday, May 12, 2023, in her home with her family by her side.  She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Roland F. Lapierre who died in 2003.  She is survived by her son, Richard Lapierre and his wife Karen of Oxford; her son-in-law, James Haganey; six grandchildren, James and his wife April, Crystal and her husband Chris, Tara and her husband Brian, Jon and his wife Annmarie, Daniel, and Michael; nine great-grandchildren, Cailyn, Nicole and her husband Brendon, Meaghan, Cameron and his wife Tess, Ryan, Sarah, Bella, Maddy, and Claire; and one great-great granddaughter, Marilyn.  She was predeceased by a son, Robert Lapierre; a daughter, Sue Haganey; and a grandson, Keith Lapierre.  She was born in Spencer, daughter of the late Ernest A. and Irene A. (Gauthier) Bassett, and graduated from high school in Canada.

Mrs. Lapierre was the office manager for Lusignan Brothers Sheet Metal in Worcester for many years prior to retirement.  She enjoyed many wonderful years in Florida, where she belonged to the Moose Lodge, enjoyed playing darts, and was named Mother of the Year.  She was very active throughout her life and volunteered for many organizations.  She loved playing cards, trips to the casino, golf, and loved to have her beloved dog Maggie by her side.

A private graveside service will be held at Mary, Queen of the Rosary Cemetery in Spencer.  Paradis-Givner Funeral Home in Oxford is directing the arrangements.
