Claude Bingham, Jr.

OXFORD – Claude R. Bingham, Jr., 76, of Ballard Street, died Saturday, February 4, 2023, at UMass-Memorial Medical Center – University Campus in Worcester, after a long illness.  He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Bernadina (Axelson) Bingham of Oxford; six children, Lois Bick of Brentwood, NH, Edward Dennis of Kingston, NH, Ralph Dennis of Ranson, WV, Steven Dennis of Melrose, David Dennis of Asheboro, NC, and Sean Bingham of Sutton; his brother, Joel Bingham of Auburn, CA; four sisters, Sandra Smith of Salt Lake City, UT, Linda Hernandez of Sacramento, CA, Pamela Cannon of North Salt Lake, UT, and Laura Bingham of Sacramento, CA; ten grandchildren, Michael, Madison, Jessica, Eddie, Billy, Cody, Tyler, Thomas, Sofia, and Bianca; three great-grandchildren, Aaron, Ryan, and Talen; and his special friends, Don, Caitlyn, and Chloe.  He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Jennifer Dennis.  He was born in Rock Springs, WY, son of the late Claude R. and Vessie L. (Campbell) Bingham, and lived in Oxford for 50 years.  He graduated from Rio Linda High School in Rio Linda, CA, in 1964, and later earned a bachelor's degree.

Mr. Bingham retired as a Staff Sergeant 1st Class from the Army National Guard.  He spent a long career in the military serving in the U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Army prior to his National Guard service.  He was a proud Vietnam War veteran.  Following retirement, he worked at the Oxford Community Center for 10 years.  He was a skilled woodworker.

Calling hours are Saturday, February 11, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford.  Memorial funeral honors will be rendered at 2:00 p.m. at the conclusion of calling hours.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942, or to Veterans Inc., 69 Grove St., Worcester, MA 01605.
