NORTH OXFORD – Corliss A. (Whitney) Thompson, 96, of May Scano Drive, Worcester, died Sunday, February 12, 2023, at Christopher House in Worcester.  She was predeceased by her husband, Alfred C. Thompson who died in 2009.  She is survived by two children, Joel C. Thompson of Bethel, CT, and Jean K. Thompson of Hudson; a sister, Doris Sargent of North Easton; her sister-in-law, Marlene Whitney of Newtown, CT; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.  She was predeceased by a brother, John Whitney; and two sisters, Miriam Jackson and Janet Wass.  She was born in Millis, daughter of the late John and Katherine (Larson) Whitney, and lived in South Weymouth, North Abington, Hamilton, Simsbury, CT, Newtown, CT, and Westboro, before moving to North Oxford in 1988.  She grew up in Randolph and Avon and graduated from Avon High School.

Mrs. Thompson was an executive secretary at Shipley Company for several years prior to retirement.  She also worked as an executive secretary for Artex Liquid Embroidery in Westboro and was a bookkeeper during her life, including a couple years at the Newtown Bee.  She was a member of CrossPoint Church in North Oxford.  She was well-read and had interests in history, gardening, nature preservation, bird watching, cooking and baking.  She was a dedicated supporter of the Oxford Public Library.

A funeral service will be held privately, followed by burial at North Cemetery in Oxford.
