Dawn Nelson

BARRE – Dawn Marie (Benjamin) Nelson, 40, of Cedar Street, died Wednesday, December 20, 2017, at the Rose Monahan Hospice Residence. She is survived by three children, Joshua C. Nelson, Jillian C. Nelson, and Joseph A. Nelson, all of South Barre; her mother, Elaine H. Benjamin of New Port Richey, FL; a brother, Michael Benjamin of Griswold, CT; two sisters, Sharon Walker of Renton, WA, and Amy Benjamin of Southwick; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews; and many longtime friends and co-workers at UMass. She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Charles Benjamin, and lived in Oxford and Leicester before moving to South Barre 6 years ago. She graduated from Bay Path R.V.T. High School in Charlton and attended Becker College.

Mrs. Nelson worked in the medical records department at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester for 17 years. In her younger years, she was a member of the First Congregational Church in Oxford. She had a love of dolphins, the beach, enjoyed times at the Lafayette Motel in Wells, Maine, and most of all enjoyed spending time with her children.

The family would like to thank the Cancer Unit Staff at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, as well as the Rose Monahan Hospice Residence, for their exceptional care during Dawn’s illness.

A memorial service will held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 30, 2017, at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. Burial will be private at a later date. Memorial calling hours are Saturday from 11 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., at the funeral home prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dawn M.
