CHARLTON – Denise Irene (Girouard) Stewart, 78, of Ramshorn Road, died Tuesday, January 20, 2026. Though she passed unexpectedly, she was at peace with her family by her side.

She was predeceased by her husband of 43 years, Freddie Stewart of Charlton who died in 2012. She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer McKinstry and her husband Paul of Charlton; grandchildren, Brianna McKinstry and Cole McKinstry, both of Charlton; three stepsons and their children, Fred, Wesley and his son Christopher, Timothy and his children Tucker, Jesslyn and Jacob; six siblings, Jeanne Picard of Charlton, Robert Girouard and his wife Terri of Naples, FL, Anne Hancock and her husband Carl of Lithia, FL, Diane Boover and her husband Michael of Worcester, Phillip Girouard and his wife Joann of Millbury, and Michelle Burlingame of Dade City, FL; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Anita Renihan who died in 2001.

She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Jules and Claire (Babin) Girouard, and lived in many places before moving to Charlton in 1983. She graduated from Commerce High School in Worcester in 1965.

Denise worked as a hairdresser for many years as well as owned a local business with her husband. She enjoyed reading, cooking, quilting, sewing, and playing the lottery. Most important to her was family and being a full-time super Memere and Mom. She was an amazing Wife, Mom, Mem, Sister and Friend and her fun-loving personality and positive presence will be greatly missed by her family.

A funeral Mass was held at St. Joseph’s Church, 10 H. Putnam Rd. Ext., Charlton. Burial was at West Ridge Cemetery in Charlton.

Paradis-Givner Funeral Home in Oxford is directing the arrangements.
