OXFORD – Diane M. (Dumas) Liljestrand, 67, of Wheelock Street, died Thursday, May 16, 2019, in her home. She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Richard A. Liljestrand of Oxford; her brother, Earl J. Mathews and his wife Melanie of Douglas; two sisters, Donna M. Dumas of Oxford and Doreen A. Sullivan and her husband Larry of Leicester; her uncle, Earl J. Mathews and his wife Gail of Millbury; her mother-in-law, Virginia Liljestrand of Northbridge; her brothers- and sisters-in-law, Robert Liljestrand of Kentucky, Cheryl-ann Williams of Grafton, Betty-Ann Coy of New Hampshire, and Philip Liljestrand of Worcester; and several nephews and nieces. She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Clarence L. and Rita I. (Mathews) Dumas, and lived in Millbury before moving to Oxford 40 years ago. She graduated from Millbury High School in 1969.
Mrs. Liljestrand worked at Helen of Troy Health and Home in Marlboro for 9 years, retiring in 2017. Previously, she worked at State Mutual in Worcester. She was an active member of St. Roch’s Church in Oxford, serving as a Eucharistic minister, a CCD teacher, and on various committees. She enjoyed oil painting and time with her cats.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 21, 2019, at St. Roch’s Church, 332 Main St., Oxford. Those attending are respectfully requested to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow at Central Cemetery in Millbury. Calling hours are Monday, May 20, 2019, from 5-8 p.m. at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. Flowers may be sent or memorial contributions may be made to Partners in Charity, c/o Diocese of Worcester, 49 Elm St., Worcester, MA 01609.
