OXFORD – Donald R. Coonan, 65, of Old Webster Road, died Friday, February 3, 2023, at UMass Memorial Medical Center – University Campus in Worcester. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Laura P. (Pariseau) Coonan of Oxford; two daughters, Kathleen E. Kelly and her husband Dylan of Chesapeake, VA, and Megan E. Wilson and her husband Jason of Worcester; his sister, Joyce Gingras and her husband Roger of Leicester; seven grandchildren, Kelsey, William, Colton, Carson, and Kennedy Wilson, Spencer and Devin Kelly; several nieces, nephews, and countless members of “our Village”. He was predeceased by his sister, Jane Hunt. He was born in Worcester, son of the late Raymond T. and Alice B. (Mathieu) Coonan, and lived in Oxford for 32 years. He graduated from Millbury High School in Millbury. He proudly served in the U.S. Coast Guard.
Mr. Coonan was a chef at Pleasant Valley Country Club in Sutton prior to retiring in 2022. Previously, he worked as a chef throughout his life at various hospitality venues, including hotels, restaurants, and country clubs. His passions included golf, bowling, and traveling. He enjoyed woodworking and will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father and papa.
Memorial calling hours are Tuesday, February 7, 2023, from 3-6 p.m. at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. A remembrance service including military honors will be held on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. at the conclusion of calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10306.
