PRINCETON - Doris J. (Vanderhoof) Gordon, 88, of Osgood Road, died Sunday, December 1, 2013, at UMass in Worcester, surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by three children, Stephen A. Gordon and his wife Deborah of North Oxford, Cynthia B. Chandler of Princeton, and Christopher R. Gordon and his wife Kimberly of Oxford; two brothers, Frederick Vanderhoof of Canada and Bertram Vanderhoof of Sturbridge; 10 grandchildren, Zachary, Matthew, Jacob, and Hannah Chandler, Sydney Taraskiewicz, Danyelle and Jonathan Gordon; Benjamin, Michael, and Lucas Gordon; and many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by a brother, John Vanderhoof, Jr.; and four sisters, Jacqueline Peterson, Helen Inman, Shirley Pintado, and Margaret Olson. She was born in Fitchburg, the daughter of the late John W. and Helen (Walsh) Vanderhoof, Sr., and lived in Oxford for many years before moving to Princeton in 1994. She graduated from Northborough High School in 1943. Doris was a secretary for the the special education department at Oxford Public Schools for 20 years, retiring in 1990. Previously, she worked at Mass Electric Company. She enjoyed cross stitch, bingo, puzzles, going on tours and traveling. She was an avid reader and could often be found at the library. Her greatest joy was spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. Calling hours are Wednesday, December 4, 2013, from 5-8 p.m. at Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 5, 2013, at the funeral home. Burial will be at the convenience of the family at St. John's Cemetery in Worcester. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Autumn Village, c/o Activities Fund, 25 Oriol Dr., Worcester, MA 01605.
