FRANKLIN – Earl D. Gordon, Jr., 77, of Glen Meadow Road, died Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at UMass Memorial Medical Center – University Campus in Worcester.  He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Carol L. (Anderson) Gordon of Franklin; two children, Kimberly A. Cooper and her husband Michael of Worcester, and Michael D. Gordon and his wife Jaclyn Duguay-Gordon of Franklin; a brother, Kenneth Gordon of Worcester; two stepsisters, Paula Pettit of Worcester, and Sandra Dinsdale of Maine; a stepbrother, Ronald Peris of Worcester; six grandchildren, Matthew, Mark, Amanda, Hunter, Danielle, and Ian; a step-grandson, Robert,  and seven great-grandchildren, Joseph, Jeffrey, Jaxson, Allee, Parker, Emma, and Ronnie.  He was predeceased by his brother, Wayne H. Gordon who died in 2007; and his stepmother, Rose.  He was born in Morehead City, NC, son of the late Earl D. and Loraine L. (Lawrence) Gordon Sr., and lived in Worcester before moving to Franklin in 2021.  He graduated from Oxford High School in 1963 then received a bachelor’s degree and two master’s degrees from Anna Maria College in Paxton.  He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War.

Mr. Gordon was a mental health therapist at AIDS Project Worcester for over 15 years prior to retirement.  Previously, he worked at Butler Fuel in Oxford and Central Oil in Worcester.  He enjoyed woodworking and tracing ancestry through genealogy.  He was the convener of the Scottish Clan “The House of Gordon” in New England for several years.  He will be remembered for his funny and loving personality, and his world-famous hockey puck hamburgers.

A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at St. Roch’s Cemetery in Oxford.  Calling hours are Monday, February 20, 2023, from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 3 Speen St., Suite 250, Framingham, MA 01701.
