OXFORD – Edith T. (Tourtellotte) Norcross, 89, known to most as Nippy, died Saturday, January 13, 2018, at the Overlook Masonic Health Center in Charlton. She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, George L. “Lindy” Norcross of Oxford who died in 2011. She is survived by four children, Allison E. Emanuelson of Winthrop, Charles E. Norcross and his wife Shirley of Wells, ME, James C. Norcross and his wife Amy of Indianapolis, IN, and Catherine B. Thompson and her husband Mike of Silver Springs, NV; nine grandchildren, Megan Perrotta of Grafton, Heather Levine of Marblehead, Erin Lyons of Worcester, Matthew Emanuelson of Winthrop, Geoffrey Norcross of Dudley, Tracy Leavitt of Mendon, Andrea Gasaway of Plainfield, IN, Derek Norcross of Indianapolis, IN, and Kyler Thompson of Silver Springs, NV; eighteen great-grandchildren, and several nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by four sisters, Lucille Box, Mary Dimock, Ruth Webster, and Evelyn Putnam. She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Fred E. and Catherine I. (MacKeen) Tourtellotte, and lived in Webster before moving to Oxford in 1947. She graduated from Bartlett High School in Webster in 1946.
Mrs. Norcross was the Assistant Town Clerk for the Town of Oxford for 25 years, retiring in 1987. After high school, she worked as a secretary at Cranston Print Works in Webster. She was a member of the Oxford United Methodist Church, the church choir, and the Naomi Circle of the United Methodist Women. She loved quilting and was a member of the Clara Barton Quilters, meeting every week since 1988.
Her loving family was so very precious to her; they were her life.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 18, 2018, at the Oxford United Methodist Church, 465 Main St., Oxford. Burial along with her husband will be private at a later date at North Cemetery in Oxford. A calling hour will be held from 10-11 a.m. on Thursday at the Oxford United Methodist Church, prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Oxford United Methodist Church, 465 Main St., Oxford, MA 01540, or to the Overlook Masonic Health Center, c/o Activities, P.O. Box 1000, Charlton, MA 01507. Paradis-Givner Funeral Home in Oxford is directing the arrangements.
