AUBURN – Florence E. (McNeil) Huckins, 99, of Tinker Hill Road, died Sunday, December 13, 2020, at Overlook Masonic Healthcare in Charlton. She is survived by a son, Don E. Huckins of Ludlow; three daughters, Eleanor B. Meyer of Dudley, Dale E. Morrisey of Florida, and Norma J. Antkowiak of Oxford; a sister, J. Avis Mosley of Topsham, ME; 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her husband, H. Loran Huckins who died in 1975; two sons, James Huckins who died in 1989, and Loran Huckins who died in 2019; a brother, William McNeil; and a sister, Ruth Buczak. She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late William and Florence (Brumm) McNeil, and lived most of her life in Auburn. She graduated from Auburn High School in 1940.
Mrs. Huckins worked in the Auburn Public Schools cafeteria for many years, retiring in 1987. Later, she worked at the Auburn Mall in public relations. At the mall, she also worked in the courtesy booth and enjoyed playing Mrs. Claus, Mae West, and the Old Woman in the Shoe. She enjoyed helping with Halloween, Easter, St. Patrick’s Day, and Valentine’s Day celebrations at the mall. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of North Oxford for over 75 years. In addition, she served as a deacon, finance board member, supper chairwoman, as well as many other boards and committees.
A private funeral service will be held at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home in Oxford. Burial will be private at Corbin Cemetery in Dudley. The service will be live-streamed below her obituary on the funeral home website at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, December 22, 2020. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, c/o Memorial Fund, 693 Main St., P.O. Box 577, North Oxford, MA 01537.
