OXFORD – Francis R. “Butch” McKay Jr., 68, of Millbury Road, died Thursday, January 22, 2026, at UMass Memorial Medical Center – University Campus in Worcester, after a long hard-fought battle with lung disease.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Deborah L. (Feulo) McKay; his mother, Roberta F. (Heeps) McKay of Oxford; seven children, Jason F. McKay of Webster, Daniel J. Ross and his wife Stephanie of Atlanta, GA, Melodie R. Grasso and her husband Daniel of Exeter, RI, Samantha L. Drake of Brooklyn, CT, Charly R. Fitzgerald of Thompson, CT, Jonathan Hilton of Webster, and Jillian Hilton of California; his brother, James T. McKay and his wife Dale of Oxford; six grandchildren, Noah, Sophia, Julius, Desmond, Madison, and Hailey; and many nieces and nephews.
He was born in Worcester, son of the late Francis R. McKay Sr., and lived most of his life in Oxford, Webster, and Thompson.
Mr. McKay worked at Webster Manor and Lanessa in Webster for many years, retiring in 2018. Previously he worked at Anglo Fabrics in Webster. He enjoyed going out to eat with his family, and watching old movies and TV shows. He was a Patriots fan, and he loved his dog Sam.
Butch had a love of music and played the drums and guitar. He was a professional drummer in his younger years in the band “Overload.” He loved his family most of all, and will be remembered as a great friend to all who knew him.
The family would like to thank the nurses in 7-ICU at UMass, for the exceptional care given to him during his illness.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 30, 2026, at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at Mount Zion Cemetery in Webster. Calling hours are Thursday, January 29, 2026, from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
