Francis Rogers

OXFORD – Francis E. "Eddie" Rogers, 80, of Old Depot Road, died Saturday, December 8, 2007, at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Cecelia M. (Smalarz) Rogers of Oxford; four daughters, Dianne M. McIntyre and her husband Edward of Rock Hill, SC, Linda J. Rogers of Auburn, Jo-Ann E. Rogers of Dudley, and Francine C. McCarthy and her husband Roger of Oxford; a sister, Dorothy Mohan of Auburn; seven grandchildren, Jennifer McIntyre, Jamie McIntyre, Jason McCarthy, Heather McCarthy, Kristina McCarthy, Andrew Vaitkunas, and Peter Vaitkunas; a nephew, William Mohan; and two nieces, Kathleen Hair and Nancy Mercier. He was predeceased by a brother, Walter J. Rogers of Worcester. He was born in Worcester, the son of the late John J. and Mary Ann (Cox) Rogers, and lived in Worcester before moving to Oxford in 1954. He graduated from Worcester Boys Trade High School and as a U.S. Coast Guard veteran, where he served aboard the Storis. Mr. Rogers was a construction worker for R.H. White Company in Auburn for 30 years, retiring in 1991. He was an active member of St. Ann's Church in North Oxford. Mr. Rogers was a life member of the Knights of Columbus Council 4241 in Oxford and was a 4th Degree Knight on the John Cardinal Wright Assembly. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. A memorial Mass will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, December 15, 2007, at St. Ann's Church, 652 Main St., North Oxford. Burial will be at a later date at North Cemetery in Oxford. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Ann's Church, P.O. Box 488, North Oxford, MA 01537. Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, is directing the arrangements.
