Obituary

SHREWSBURY – Frank X. Flynn, 56, a lifelong Shrewsbury guy who made Sutton his home these last few years, passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at UMass Memorial Medical Center – University Campus in Worcester, after a long and incredibly brave fight with illness. He left this world surrounded by the love of the people who meant everything to him.

Frank was born in Framingham and grew up between Berlin and Shrewsbury, and later Millbury, before settling in Sutton in 2023. He graduated from Tahanto Regional High School in Boylston in 1988, where he made friendships that lasted his entire life.

For 36 years, Frank worked for Verizon as a member of IBEW Local #2325, before retiring in 2023. He served proudly as union steward and forged lifelong friendships with his fellow brothers and sisters.

As a teenager, he spent time as a Japanese Sous Chef — one of the many places he picked up his love for cooking and feeding the people he cared about. If you were lucky enough to eat his spaghetti and meatballs or his legendary chicken wings, you knew how much joy he found in bringing people together around food.

In August 2018, Frank had his first date with Megan at the Post Office Pub in Grafton. As she describes, ‘It was not good. I thought it was going very badly.’ But Frank thought differently, asked her out again and the two went out every day that week. They both soon knew that was real – they would be together forever.

Frank lived life with a full heart and a playful spirit. He bowled with the Honey Farms League in Auburn, golfed weekly at the Berlin Country Club, and never missed a chance to coach — whether it was baseball or Pop Warner football in Shrewsbury. He had a gift for working with kids, teaching them not just sports but confidence, teamwork, and fun.

Frank’s heart belonged first to his family. He leaves behind his wife and best friend, Megan E. (Emanuelson) Flynn of Sutton; his three children who were his pride and joy — Christian X. Flynn, Allison D. Flynn, and Felicia D. Flynn, all of Sutton; and a granddaughter who absolutely lit him up, little Avery R. Flynn of Sutton. He also leaves his parents, Daniel J. and Rena (Loomer) Flynn of Shrewsbury; his stepchildren, Rachel E. Perrotta of Malden, Katherine E. Perrotta of Beverly, and Sean D. Perrotta of Shrewsbury; his brother, Daniel D. Flynn of Shrewsbury; his nephews, James and Jacob Collins of Shrewsbury; and a huge extended family that loved him dearly. Frank joins his sister, Bonni M. Flynn, who passed in 2007, and whom he missed every day.

Frank loved animals (especially his dogs, who were always by his side), fast cars, trips to Hampton Beach, spontaneous adventures, playing Rock Band on the Xbox with family, and the comfortable chaos of being surrounded by the people he loved. Frank’s laugh, quick wit, and huge heart left a mark on everyone who knew him.

Frank strongly believed in God and showing up – for his family, his friends, and his community. In turn, they showed up for Frank, with many, at a moment’s notice, spending the day at his bedside near the end of his journey.

The family would like to thank the care teams at Dana Farber in Milford, Milford Hospital, and the ICU at UMASS Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, for their kindness and the excellent care they provided to Frank, which gave them the priceless gift of more time together.

Frank lived loudly, loved deeply, and built a life full of memories that his family will carry with them forever.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 15, 2025, at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main Street, Oxford. Burial will follow at North Cemetery in Oxford. Calling hours are Sunday, December 14, 2025, from 3-6 p.m. at the funeral home.
