OXFORD – George G. Casavant, 83, of Wheelock Street, passed away on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at UMass Memorial Medical Center – University Campus in Worcester.
He is survived by two brothers, Paul Casavant of North Oxford, and James Casavant of Oxford; a sister, Janet Romano and her husband Angelo of Millbury; his close friend, Shannon M. Hawkes and her companion Joseph Beaudry Jr. of Oxford; and many nephews and nieces, including Ronnie Casavant of Webster and Lisa Woodrum of Florida. He was predeceased by his brother John Casavant.
He was born in Webster, son of the late Gaspar and Frances (Lorkiewicz) Casavant, and was a lifelong resident of Oxford. He was raised on the family dairy farm in Oxford. He graduated from Oxford High School in 1960. He was a member of the Massachusetts Air National Guard.
Mr. Casavant was a member of the Laborers Local 243 Union for 39 years, working in construction throughout his life. He loved airplanes and aviation, and enjoyed sailing on the ocean in the summer. He had a great love for wildlife, and welcomed many furry friends into his home over the years, including his best friend Bushy Tail.
A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at St. Roch’s Church, 332 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at St. Roch’s Cemetery in Oxford. Calling hours are Wednesday from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, prior to the Mass.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the World Wildlife Fund, 1250 24th Street, N.W., P.O. Box 97180, Washington, DC 20090-7180.
