George Hoar, Jr.

OXFORD – George F. Hoar, Jr., 88, of Chris Road, died Thursday, May 10, 2018, at Southbridge Rehabilitation and Healthcare in Southbridge, after a short illness. He is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Alana F. (Clark) Hoar of Oxford; and three step-children, Debra-Lyn M. Labbe and her husband Keith of Southbridge, Jeffrey Moore of Oxford, and Rodney C. Moore and his wife Jennifer of Oxford. He was born in Worcester, son of the late George F. and Evelyn M. (Tatro) Hoar Sr., and lived in Auburn before moving to Oxford over 50 years ago. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War.

Mr. Hoar owned and operated George’s Auto Repair in Worcester for over 40 years, retiring in 2013. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 5663 in Oxford, the American Legion Post 58 in Oxford, and the Disabled American Veterans in Webster. He was a member of the Oxford Lodge of Masons. He will be remembered as a hands-on man who could fix anything. He enjoyed working on engines and disassembling and reassembling anything he could find to repair it or make it work a little better.

Services and burial are private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301. Paradis-Givner Funeral Home in Oxford is directing the arrangements.
