AUBURN – George W. LaPointe, 78, of Kateri Way, died Thursday, January 21, 2021, at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester after a period of declining health. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sharon L. (Brouillette) LaPointe of Auburn; his son, Derrick J. LaPointe of Auburn; his sister, Marguerite LaPointe Abcunas of Florida; and several nieces and nephews. He was born in Worcester, son of the late Weston J. and Frances (Sakalauskas) LaPointe, and lived in Auburn since 1982. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Worcester and Worcester Industrial Technical Institute. He was a member of the Army National Guard of Massachusetts.
Mr. LaPointe was a truck driver for Table Talk Pies in Worcester for over 10 years prior to retirement. He was a member of North American Martyrs Church in Auburn and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed golfing and bowling.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, services will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 3 Speen St., Suite 250, Framingham, MA 01701. Paradis-Givner Funeral Home in Oxford is directing the arrangements.
