WORCESTER – Geraldine L. (Darragh) Pio, 89, formerly of Lake Avenue, died Thursday, December 9, 2021, at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester.  She is survived by four children, David J. Pio and his wife Linda of North Grosvenordale, CT, Joseph S. Pio and his wife Gloria of Randolph, Donna M. Barbale and her husband David of Charlton, and Debra A. Friend and her husband Joseph of Worcester; 23 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces.  She was predeceased by her former husband, Joseph S. Pio who died in 2016; and eight brothers and sisters.  She was born in Boston, daughter of the late Peter and Harriet G. (Ellis) Darragh, and lived in Brockton and Randolph before moving to Worcester 20 years ago.

Ms. Pio was a cafeteria worker in several school systems throughout her life.  She was a member of North American Martyrs Church in Auburn.  She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who was dedication was family and church.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, December 17, 2021, at North American Martyrs Church, 8 Wyoma Drive, Auburn.  Those attending are respectfully requested to meet directly at the church.  Burial will follow at St. Roch’s Cemetery in Oxford.  There are no calling hours.  Paradis-Givner Funeral Home in Oxford is directing the arrangements.
