Gloria Dempsey

SPENCER – Gloria L. (Hippert) Dempsey, 85, formerly of Howe Village, died Thursday, March 2, 2017, at Lanessa Extended Care in Webster, after a short battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Paul E. Dempsey Sr.; her son, Paul E. Dempsey Jr. and his wife April of Hudson, ME; two granddaughters, Anna Dempsey and Elizabeth Dempsey, both of Hudson, ME; and many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by five brothers, George, Eddie, Roy, Donald, and James; and three sisters, Grace, Helen, and Martha. She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Leon and Helen (Hanlon) Hippert, and lived in Worcester and Bolton before moving to Spencer many years ago.

Mrs. Dempsey was a homemaker who took wonderful care of her home and family. She enjoyed playing bingo at church, socializing with her friends, and spending time with her granddaughters.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 17, 2017, at Faith Baptist Church, 160 Forest Ave., Orono, ME. Burial will be private at Rainbow’s End Cemetery in Orrington, Maine. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942. Paradis-Givner Funeral Home in Oxford is directing the arrangements.
