OXFORD – Gloria R. (Courtemanche) Lazaro, 89, of Lind Street, died peacefully on Friday, November 8, 2024, in her home. She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, James D. Lazaro of Oxford who died in 2006. She is survived by her son, James W. Lazaro of Oxford; her sister, Jeannette Taraskiewicz of Pittsfield; and her Goddaughter, Nancy Lou Edmondson of Vernon, CT. She was predeceased by two sisters, Lydia Krawczyk who died in 2017, and Irene Edmondson who died in 2018.

She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Hermas and Cecile (Mongeon) Courtemanche, and lived in Sutton for many years before moving to Oxford 26 years ago.

Mrs. Lazaro was a homemaker for most of her life, caring for her home and family. Previously, she worked at Worcester State Hospital as an attendant for several years. She was a member of St. Roch’s Church in Oxford. She spent winters in Florida with her husband for many years, and she enjoyed playing Bingo, traveling, and birdwatching, especially cardinals. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, November 15, 2024, at North Cemetery in Oxford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Boys Town, P.O. Box 8000, Boys Town, NE 68010.

Paradis-Givner Funeral Home in Oxford is directing the arrangements.
