OXFORD - Gloria A. (Quist) Wade, 89, of Wheelock Street, died Tuesday, February 10, 2015, at UMass Memorial Medical Center - University Campus. She was predeceased by her husband, Wallace A. Wade who died in 1971; and her brother, Water E. Quist. She is survived by five children, Geraldine M. Grzyb of Dudley, Linda E. Fontanella of Pompano Beach, FL, Carol A. Wade-Lam of Oxford, Michael B. Wade of North Brookfield, and William W. Wade of Stuart, FL; eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, several nephews and nieces, and her dog, Annie. She was born in Worcester, the daughter of the late Gustaf and Angelina (Cournoyer) Quist, and lived most of her life in Oxford. She graduated from Becker College in Worcester. Mrs. Wade worked at Suzuki of Northboro (currently Motorsports International of Auburn) for 22 years. Previously, she worked at State Mutual in Worcester, and in the Department of Immigration in Washington, D.C as secretary to a Marine Captain for the Department of the Navy. After retirement, she was the receptionist for 5 Star Cheer Academy in Oxford. Mrs. Wade was an elected town official on the Oxford Housing Authority and served on many boards and organizations in Oxford. She was a member of the First Congregational Church in Oxford and organized ballroom dances throughout Worcester County. Memorial calling hours are Saturday, February 14, 2015, from 3-5 p.m. at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. A prayer service will be held at 5 p.m. at the conclusion of calling hours. Burial will be private at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the UMass Memorial Foundation - Organ Transplant Fund, P.O. Box 2795, Worcester, MA 01613.
