OXFORD – Harold “Ernie” E. Keenan, 81, of Bacon Street, died Monday, March 9, 2026, in his home.

He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Diane R. (Layte) Cleggett-Keenan of Oxford; four daughters, Annmarie Keenan of Charlton, Andrea Fox of Worcester, Tamara “Tammy” Collard and her husband Jay of Oxford, and Jody Grigarauskas of Southbridge; a sister, Janice Pearson of Charlton; nine grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, six bonus great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews; great nieces and great nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Therese L. (LaPorte) Keenan, who died in 2005; three brothers, Robert Keenan, James Keenan, and Ronald Keenan; and a sister, Margaret Richard.

He was born in Bangor, ME, son of the late Andrew H. and Irene M. (Arsenault) Keenan, and lived in Maine and Worcester before moving to Oxford in 1973. He graduated from Bangor High School in 1962. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, and later served in the Army National Guard from 1967-1978.

Mr. Keenan worked for Cutler Associates in Worcester for 22 years, retiring in 2006. Previously, he worked at the Thom McCann warehouse in Auburn. He was a former member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Auburn, where he also served as Junior Warden and Sexton, and was a current member of the Church of the Reconciliation in Webster. He was a member of the American Legion Post 4 in Gardiner, ME. He enjoyed camping and was an avid fan of the New England Patriots.

A celebration of his life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at the Church of the Reconciliation, 21 North Main St., Webster. Please wear your favorite New England Patriots shirt to show your support to Harry’s favorite team. Burial with military honors will be private at North Cemetery in Oxford.
