OXFORD - Harris J. Prunier, 96, of Charlton Street, died Thursday, November 13, 2014, at the Overlook Masonic Health Center in Charlton, after a short illness. He was predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Doris M. (Champagne) Prunier of Oxford who died in 1991. He is survived by four children, Harris J. Prunier Jr. and his wife Pauline, JoAnn M. Puchalski and her husband Bob, Dianne L. Langone and her husband David, and Henry D. Prunier and his wife Sue; a sister, Agnes Bachand; 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his son, Mark P. Prunier who died in 1980; three brothers, Louis, Edward, and David Prunier; and two sisters, Angelina and Eva Prunier. He was born in Oxford the son of the late David and Angelina (Mathurin) Prunier, and lived in Charlton before moving to Oxford in 1950. He graduated from Charlton High School in 1935 and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Mr. Prunier was a plant manager at American Optical in Southbridge for 40 years, retiring in 1980. He was a member of St. Roch's Church in Oxford. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed spending his time fishing, hunting, gardening, and playing cribbage. He enjoyed being around people and loved spending summers at Cape Cod with his family. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to everyone at the Overlook Masonic Health Center for the exceptional loving care they showed during his time there. Calling hours are Saturday, November 15, 2014, from 9-11 a.m. at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. A funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 15, 2014, at St. Roch's Church, 332 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Webster. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Overlook Masonic Health Center, c/o the Employee Appreciation Fund, P.O. Box 1000, Charlton, MA 01507.
