LEICESTER - Helen L. (Janelle) Lavigne, 70, formerly of Tobin Road, died Friday, December 20, 2013, at Dodge Park Rest Home in Worcester after a long battle with Alzheimer's. She is survived by three children, Karen Dillon and her husband Michael of Purcellville, VA, Diane McCarthy and her husband Barry of Cape Coral, FL, and David Lavigne of Dudley; nine grandchildren, William Fongealaz, Anthony Cristina, Kyle Dillon, Kaelie Dillon, Christian Dillon, Jennifer Tretheway, Chelsea McCarthy, Ariana McCarthy and Keith Lavigne; 3 great grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by a daughter, Susan M. Lavigne, who died in 1993. She was born in Biddeford, ME, the youngest of 10 children to the late Egide J. and Rachel S. (Rousseau) Janelle. Prior to retiring in 2008, Helen worked at Safeway in Leesburg, VA, Walmart in Oxford, Taggies in Spencer, and David Clark in Worcester. She loved dancing, sewing, gardening, and skiing. A memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 28, 2013, at St. Pius X Church, 1161 Main St., Leicester. Burial will be at a later date at St. Joseph's Garden of Peace in Webster. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472, or visit ALZ.org to donate online. Paradis Funeral Home in Oxford is directing the arrangements.
