OXFORD -- Helen G. (Goodwin) Yeagle, 94, of Main St., died Thursday, November 1, 2007, at Oakwood Nursing Home in Webster. She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Rev. Lloyd R. Yeagle, who died in 1993. She is survived by a daughter, Louisa G. Yeagle of Arlington, VA; 3 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by a son, Vaughan M. Yeagle of Richmond, VA, who died in 1990. She was born in Boston, the daughter of the late Warren C. and Jennie L. (Leonard) Goodwin, and lived in Oxford for over 50 years. She graduated from Coby High School in New Hampshire and graduated Phi Beta Capa from Bates College in Lewiston, Maine. Mrs. Yeagle also attended Andover Newton Theology School in Newton, MA. Mrs. Yeagle was a substitute teacher for Oxford Public Schools for many years. She was also a Sunday school teacher and was a choir director at area churches. Mrs. Yeagle was named "Woman of the Year" in 1998 started the recycling program in Oxford. She was the organizer of the Retired Armed Forces Assoc. (RAFA) in the Oxford/Webster area and did volunteer work for numerous groups in the area. She was a member of the Women's Club in Oxford and traveled extensively throughout the country and the world. Mrs. Yeagle was the wife of the former minister emeritus of the First Congregational Church in Oxford. She was known throughout Oxford for years of teaching piano at 50 cents per lesson. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 4, 2007, at Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. Burial will be private in North Cemetery, Oxford. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
