OXFORD – James K. Ballon, 79, of Church Street, died Thursday, August 7, 2025, in his home. He is survived by his devoted wife of 28 years, Theresa “Terri” A. (McQuiston) Ballon of Oxford; two sons, Michael Ballon of Woodstock, CT, and Lucas Ballon and his partner Amy Cauldwell of Millbury; his bonus daughter, Tina Chevalier and her husband Keith of Ware; two sisters, Shirley Thompson of Ohio, and Mary Ballon Trudeau of Worcester; two grandchildren, Ciara Smith and her husband Spencer of Colorado, and Keith Chevalier of New York; two great-grandchildren, Alex James and Darina Smith, both of Colorado; his former wife, Elaine Ballon of Worcester; and numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and friends who have become family. He was predeceased by a sister, Carol May; and a brother, Billy Ballon.
He was born and raised in Worcester before moving to Oxford over 30 years ago. He graduated from Worcester Boys Trade in 1964, and attended Becker College in Worcester. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, serving with the Seabees.
Mr. Ballon was a member of the American Legion Post 58 in Oxford, and was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans.
The family would like to thank everyone at CareOne in Millbury, the nurses at VNA Care Hospice in Worcester, and Always Best Care Senior Services, for their excellent care and compassion during his illness.
Calling hours are Wednesday, August 13, 2025, from 5-7 p.m. at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the conclusion of calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion Post 58, 227 Main St., Oxford, MA 01540.
