NORTH OXFORD – James P. Cloutier, 78, of Patricia Drive, died Sunday, July 2, 2023, at UMass Memorial Medical Center – University Campus in Worcester. He is survived by his son, James R Cloutier, his wife Janet and his two grandchildren Andrew and Catherine of North Oxford; his companion of over 25 years, Susan M. Pontbriand of North Oxford, and her children Michele Hutchinson and her husband Nason of Oxford, and Troy Pontbriand and his wife Jessica of Charlton; his brother, Paul Cloutier of Worcester; and his companion’s grandchildren, Macy, Tyler, and Keenan. He was born in Westfield, son of the late Nelson and Rita (Scanlon) Cloutier, and lived in North Oxford since 1998. He was predeceased by his sister, Marie Gallagher who died in 2020. He graduated from St. Stephen’s High School in Worcester and was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War.
Mr. Cloutier worked at BJ’s Wholesale Club in Auburn for 15 years, retiring in 2011. Previously, he owned and operated Elwood Adams Hardware in Worcester, and was the meat department manager for Wonder Market Companies. During retirement, he worked part-time at Pine Ridge Country Club in North Oxford. He loved golfing, traveling, and reading.
Memorial calling hours are Thursday, July 13, 2023, from 10:00-11:30 a.m. at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. A graveside service will be held at 12 noon on Thursday at North Cemetery in Oxford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Veteran's Inc., 69 Grove St., Worcester, MA 01605.
