WOODSTOCK – James W. Witter, 55, of Brickyard Road, died Monday, September 12, 2022, at Backus Hospital in Norwich, CT, after a battle with cancer. He is survived by wife of 35 years, Susan E. (Fifield) Witter of Woodstock; two sons, Michael J. Witter and Brian M. Witter, both of Woodstock; his brother-in-law, Dale Fifield of Thompson; his nephew, Randall Fifield of Thompson; three brothers, Eugene E. Witter Jr. of Middletown, CT, John E. Witter of Plainfield, CT, and Donald Witter of Plainfield, CT; and four nieces and nephews, Melinda, Eugene III, Jennifer, Melissa, and Amber. He was born in Putnam, son of the late Eugene E. Witter Sr., and Barbara (Sponcey) Rice, and lived in Thompson and Brooklyn before moving to Woodstock 7 years ago.
Mr. Witter was a commercial tire technician for over 25 years at Sullivan, TCI and Berlin Bandag Tires. He took great pride in his vehicles and enjoyed spending time with his beloved dog. Most of all, he loved spending time with his sons.
Services are private and burial will follow at East Thompson Cemetery in Thompson, CT. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Friends of Camp Quinebaug, 783 Cook Hill Rd., Danielson, CT 06239. Paradis-Givner Funeral Home in Oxford is directing the arrangements.
