Jane Smith

August 13, 1936 — January 8, 2019

OXFORD – Jane L. Smith, 82, of Wheelock Street, died peacefully on Tuesday, January 8, 2019, at Brookside Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Webster. She was predeceased by her husband of 42 years, David J. Smith of Oxford who died in 2000. She is survived by two children, Duaine D. Smith and his wife April of Webster, and Rose Linder Baldwin of Arlington, TX; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces. She was born in Winchendon, daughter of the late Alice Alida Anderson, and was a lifelong resident of Oxford. She graduated from Burncoat High School in Worcester.

Mrs. Smith was a caterer for Princess Deli and Catering for 15 years, retiring in 1999. She was a member of the Oxford Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and was a firefighter for brush fires during the summer. She enjoyed bingo, bowling, and playing pitch. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.

Services are private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Oxford Fire Department, 181 Main St., Oxford, MA 01540, with checks payable to the Town of Oxford. Paradis-Givner Funeral Home in Oxford is directing the arrangements.
