OXFORD – Joan Carol (Dudula) Decelles, of South Dartmouth and formerly of Oxford, died on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at Webster Manor Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Webster, after a period of declining health.
She was born in Worcester on August 2, 1950, and was the daughter of the late Peter and Ellen Dudula of Oxford.
Joan is survived by her daughter Emily; her sister Patrice Dudula Salkowski of Charlton; and her brothers, Peter and Robert.
She was employed by the New Bedford School District for 32 years, specializing in Home Economics, until her retirement in 2005 due to her illness. She was also affiliated with the Miss Massachusetts State Pageant for 20 years (1975–1995).
She graduated from Oxford High School, received her bachelor's degree from Framingham State College, and her master’s degree from Fitchburg State College.
A calling hour will be held on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, from 10-11 a.m. at St. Nicholas Albanian Orthodox Church, 12 Morris Street, Southbridge, with a funeral service to begin at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at North Cemetery in Oxford.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Nicholas Albanian Orthodox Church, P.O. Box 650, Southbridge, MA 01550.
Paradis-Givner Funeral Home in Oxford is directing the arrangements.
