OXFORD – Joan I. Kasabula, 77, died on her birthday, August 12, 2018, at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. She is survived by her sister, Florence A. Parker of Worcester; her brother, Robert E. Kasabula and his wife Lucille of North Grafton; nephews and nieces, Raymond K. Parker and his wife Carolyn of Worcester, Kathleen L. Bronzo of Charlton, John E. Parker of Gardner, Patricia F. Letourneau and her husband Andrew Sr. of Charlton, Donna J. Kasabula and her husband Stuart Melnitsky of Andover, and Stephen R. Kasabula and his wife Kathy of Newton; several great nephews and nieces, and many close friends including Diane Kaminski of Oxford. She was predeceased by a niece, Susan M. Kasabula who died in 1995. She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Edward A. and Alice M. (Wolanin) Kasabula, and lived in Worcester before moving to Oxford many years ago. She attended Worcester schools.

Joan was a chauffeur for Worcester State Hospital for many years, retiring in 2002. She was a member of St. Roch’s Church in Oxford and was a committee member for the Council on Aging. She was a friend of the Preservation Society of the Nubble Light House in York, Maine. In her youth, Joan played amateur softball for Hebert Candy Mansion. She was a fan of the Boston Red Sox, especially David Ortiz. She loved animals, vacationing in Maine and Aruba, and was proud of her Polish heritage.

A funeral will be held on Friday, August 17, 2018, from Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, followed by a Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Roch’s Church, 332 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery in Worcester. Calling hours are Thursday, August 16, 2018, from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, 383 Main Ave., 5th Floor, Norwalk, CT 06851, or to the Oxford Animal Shelter, 325 Main St., Oxford, MA 01540.
