John L.S. Cosentino

OXFORD – John L.S. Cosentino, 91, of Leicester Street, died peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at the Lutheran Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center in Worcester, after a short battle with cancer.  He is survived by his wife, Leda (Messier) Cosentino of North Oxford; five children, Susan Henault of Oxford, Joy A. Veroneau and her husband Brian of Mashpee, John L. Cosentino Jr. of Oxford, Leda A. McCarthy and her husband Scott of Oxford, and Gina M. Cosentino and her husband Edward of North Oxford; his step-brother, Pauley Guay of Worcester; his extended daughter, Rebecca Brown of North Oxford; eleven grandchildren, Chad, Kelli, Kristy, Kayli, Joshua, Evan, Elaina, Keshia, Kadye, Marie, Ty; ten great-grandchildren, Payton, Chloe, Lily, Angelo, Jonathan, Reilly, Landon, Braelynn, Cole, Chase, and many, many friends.  He was born in Worcester, son of the late Louis Cosentino and Lena (Delgiorgi) Guay, and was raised by Grandma Pascucci, remaining close with his 12 aunts and uncles as he grew up.  He lived in Worcester before moving to North Oxford in 1954.  He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

Mr. Cosentino owned and operated Cosentino’s Garage in North Oxford for over 60 years, retiring in 2009.  He was the former president of Babe Ruth Baseball in Oxford and proudly sponsored the “Cosentino Garage” men’s softball team.  He enjoyed camping, hunting, the ocean, scratch tickets, trips to the casino, singing, and all animals.  Family was his life and bringing his family together was most important to him.

Calling hours are Friday, October 13, 2023, from 4-6 p.m. at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford.  A service will be held on Friday at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home at the conclusion of calling hours.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the MSPCA, 350 South Huntington Ave., Boston, MA 02130.
