WEBSTER – John “Jack” R. Anderson, 72, died Saturday, February 24, 2024, surrounded by his family in Woodstock, CT.  He leaves behind his four children, Jody J. Anderson and his wife Kristy of Oxford, Jason R. Anderson of Webster, Jarred P. Anderson of Woodstock, CT and Samantha L. Rivernider and her husband Jason of Woodstock, CT; two brothers, William F. Anderson and his wife Christine of Auburn, and Stephen C. Anderson of Oxford; his former loving wife, Sandra Anderson of Woodstock, CT; three grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was born in Worcester, son of the late Algot W. and Ruth Ellen (Comer) Anderson, and lived most of his life in Oxford before building his home in Charlton. He graduated from Oxford High School in 1970. He was a proud U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

Mr. Anderson was a letter carrier for the Oxford Post Office for 28 years, which was the perfect job. Jack was a talker - he couldn’t go anywhere or do anything without making a new friend or seeing a familiar face. He would sit there for what seemed like hours talking about all the good times.

In his spare time, you could find him riding motorcycles to Dunkins or just getting lost for fun. Jack loved watching NCIS with his cats or getting donuts with his best buddy Cole. He loved spending time with family and friends. He took pride in helping others, no act was too small. While we lost our beloved dad, many have lost a friend and loved one in him. He has been a rock to many, a master at sarcastic humor and witty timing to others, and even a pain in the neck to his favorite people. There was so much more to him than just dad, though to us that was his greatest role.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Villalobos Rescue Center or the Alzheimer's Association.

Services will be private.  It was his wish that we laugh and reminisce, and smile together during this time. To honor Jack’s memory, we are holding a celebration of life on June 22, 2024, from 3-7 p.m. at the Thompson Rod and Gun Club, 93 Brandy Hill Road, Thompson, CT. We invite anyone who knew Jack to attend and remember his wonderful life!

We will always carry your memory in our hearts. GO JETS!

Paradis-Givner Funeral Home in Oxford is directing the arrangements.
