UXBRIDGE – John S. Landi, 76, of Chestnut Street, died peacefully on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at the Providence VA Medical Center, surrounded by his family.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Pamela A. (Mariotti) Landi of Uxbridge; three children, Jennifer A. Swanson and her husband Tom of Portsmouth, RI, Nicholas J. Landi and his wife Kristen, and Matthew D. Landi and his wife Kathryn of Cumberland, RI; four grandchildren, Anthony Landi, Abigail Landi, Kendall Cournoyer, and Justin Cournoyer, all of Cumberland, RI; his aunt, Jeanette Musco of Lincoln, RI; three nephews, Cory Landi of Pascoag, RI, Clifford Ferrone of Hopedale, and Michael Rooney of Milford; three sisters-in-law, Alison Ferrone of Bellingham, Sheree Peterson of East Sandwich, and Jaymie Martin of Milford; and many friends.

He was born in Providence, son of the late Anthony and Rosanna (Cacchione) Landi, and lived in Uxbridge since 1976. He graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in Providence in 1967. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, enlisting after high school and serving tours in Germany, Vietnam, and Korea. He then spent twelve years in the Rhode Island National Guard, where he attended Air Assault School and attained the rank of sergeant.

Mr. Landi was the service manager at Continental Engineering in Johnston, RI, retiring in 2018. He was a firefighter/EMT as a member of the Uxbridge Fire Department for 20 years. John was an avid fisherman and hunter, and loved spending time on his fishing boat, Glory Days. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family, and will be remembered as a very generous man.

A funeral will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2026, from Buma Funeral Home, 101 North Main St., Uxbridge, followed by a Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 77 Mendon St., Uxbridge. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Francis Cemetery in Pawtucket, RI. Calling hours are Wednesday, August 12, 2026, from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.
