OXFORD – Julia A. (Brosnahan) Guertin, 91, passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2020, at Care One of Millbury due to complications of Covid-19.  She was the daughter of the late Thomas F. and Alida V. (Duquette) Brosnahan of Worcester.

Julia is survived by her sons, Theodore H. Guertin Jr. and his wife Patti of Oxford, and Kenneth Guertin and his wife Lydia of Arlington; her grandchildren, Patrick, Caitlin, Rebecca, and Alexander Guertin; as well as many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her husband Theodore H. Guertin who died in 2015; her daughter Susan M. Hanson who died in 2012; her grandson Ryan Guertin who died in 2019; her brother Thomas F. Brosnahan, Jr.; and her sister Jane (Brosnahan) Kelliher.

Julia graduated from Holy Name High School and received her bachelor’s degree from Worcester State Teacher’s College.  She began her teaching career in 1951 at the Thomas Street School in Worcester followed by 24 years in the Oxford School System.

Julia was a long time active member of St. Roch’s Church in Oxford.  She served over the years on the parish council, as a CCD teacher, and was a longtime lector and Eucharistic minister to the sick.

The family would like to thank Julie’s home health caregivers, Jim from Tri-Valley, Michelle from the V.N.A., Tina and Linda, as well as the staff at Care One and her good neighbor Steve Lapomardo.

A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 16, 2020, at St. Roch’s Church, 334 Main St., Oxford.  Those attending are respectfully requested to meet directly at the church and follow safety precautions such as wearing a mask and maintaining social distance.  The funeral Mass will be live-streamed on the funeral home website below her obituary.  There are no calling hours.  Burial will follow at St. Roch’s Cemetery in Oxford.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Roch’s Church, 334 Main St., Oxford, MA 01540.  Paradis-Givner Funeral Home in Oxford is directing the arrangements.
