Julia Sedor

OXFORD – Julia S. (Rewinski) Sedor, 94, passed away Monday, August 27, 2018, at Overlook Masonic Health Center in Charlton surrounded by her family. She was predeceased by her husband of 48 years, Stanley Sedor, principal of Oxford Middle School, who died in 1999. She is survived by three daughters, Nancy Sedor and her partner James Wilson of Woburn, Dr. Carolyn Sedor and her husband Dr. Mat Finch of Lexington, and Susan Sedor and her husband Peter Antonellis of Harwich; a son, Joseph Sedor of Oxford; six grandchildren, Christina Finch, Evan Finch, Daniel Finch, Gregory Antonellis, Hannah Antonellis, and Alex Antonellis; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Walter Rewinski and Dr. Edmond Rewinski; and a sister, Nellie Kosakowski. She was born and raised in Southbridge, daughter of the late Stanley and Eva (Mylek) Rewinski, and lived in New Hampshire for three years before moving to Oxford in 1953. She graduated as salutatorian of her class from Mary E. Wells High School in Southbridge in 1941.

Mrs. Sedor was first employed by American Optical Company then at E.D. Desrosiers Insurance Agency, both in Southbridge. After taking time to raise her family, Julia became the administrative assistant to the Oxford Town Manager for 15 years, until her retirement in 1988. She was an avid reader of non-fiction and enjoyed traveling. Her most memorable trip was traveling to Israel in 2010. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, listening to classical music, and watching old movies. She was a parishioner of St. Roch’s Church in Oxford and a member of the “Tea and Talk” group at the Oxford Senior Center.

Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, and especially loved family gatherings at her cottage on Webster Lake.

A funeral will be held on Saturday, September 1, 2018, from Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford, followed by a Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Roch’s Church, 332 Main St., Oxford. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Garden of Peace in Webster. Calling hours are Friday, August 31, 2018, from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Friends of the Oxford Public Library, 339 Main St., Oxford, MA 01540.
