CHARLTON – Katie Lynn O’Bara, 30, of Morton Station Road, lost her battle with Vascular EDS on Monday evening, September 9, 2024, at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. She is survived by her parents, Carl R. and Laura J. (Fraser) O’Bara of Charlton; her brother, Ryan D. O’Bara and his wife Aubrey and their daughter Amelia O’Bara of Charlton; her maternal grandmother, Bonnie A. Boyle of Charlton; her fiancé, Kyle Strom of Lincoln, RI; Kyle’s parents, Chris and Kathy Strom of Hopedale; Kyle’s brother, Ian Strom and his wife Lola of Northbridge; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. She was predeceased by her paternal grandmother, Barbara Helen Smith; and her maternal grandfather, Edward J. Boyle. She will also be greatly missed by her fur babies, her Corgi Dave, and her cats Franklin and Spooky.
She was born in Worcester and was a lifelong resident of Charlton. She graduated from Shepherd Hill Regional High School in Dudley in 2013.
Katie owned and operated Fellowship Cleaning and Organizing in Rhode Island. She enjoyed playing golf, cornhole, decorating, and animals of any kind. She was a tireless advocate for her condition, Vascular Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. Katie was the kindest, most selfless person you could ever meet. She had great strength and determination during life and was the best person anyone could be. She saw the best in everyone, and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Memorial calling hours are Friday, September 20, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ed for EDS4, c/o Savers Bank, P.O. Box 250, Southbridge, MA 01550.
