Kevin R. Maher

OXFORD – Kevin R. Maher (Uncle Kevin), 72, of Water Street, died Thursday, September 10, 2026, at the Jewish Healthcare Center in Worcester.

He is survived by five siblings, Kerrian-Lee Vinzi and her husband Steve of Dudley, Sean M. Maher and his wife Katherine of Shrewsbury, Kelly Michalczyk and her husband Paul of Paxton, Ginny Maher-Cooper and her wife Bonnie of Littleton, and Richard E. Maher Jr. and his wife Shelly of Oxford.

Kevin was a proud loving uncle to Christopher Asquith, Jaclyn McGreevy and her husband Ryan, Amanda McKay and her husband Will, Courtney Maher, Kylee Dunn and her fiancé Sean, Dakota Maher and her partner Liam, Cameron Maher and his wife Maddie, Jordyn Cooper, Maxwell Vinzi, Benjamin Cooper, and Jaylynn Maher and her fiancé Ryan.

He was Great Uncle to Christian, Aiden, Mason, Jason, Emma, Ava, Gavin, Paisley, Jayde, Sean, Benjamin, Andi Lee, and Monroe. Kevin was predeceased by his great nephew Shayne Desroches.

He was born in Long Island City, NY, son of the late Richard E. and Virginia J. (Flood) Maher. For many years Kevin made his home in Oxford after spending the earlier part of his life in Worcester and Leicester.

Kevin worked at Marlborough Hospital for 20 years, retiring as kitchen supervisor. During retirement, he continued to serve his community as a supervisor for Meals-on-Wheels in Spencer. Kevin was a devoted sports fan, especially of the Red Sox and New England Patriots. He enjoyed watching Little League and he took great pride in keeping the scorebook during the games.

Kevin had a curious mind and loved keeping it busy. He enjoyed playing bingo and doing word search puzzles, he was a history buff who could rattle off dates and events with an impressive memory. He was also a devoted Jeopardy! fan and loved anything involving numbers, especially lottery numbers and sports pools. These simple pleasures brought him great enjoyment and were a reflection of his sharp mind and unique personality.

Kevin was a kind and gentle soul who touched the lives of many. To some, he was family; to others a dear friend. But to those who knew and loved him best, he was simply “Kev or Uncle”. Kevin spent a lifetime providing care and comfort to others. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Calling hours are Wednesday, September 16, 2026, from 4-7 p.m. Paradis-Givner Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, September 17, 2026. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery in Leicester.

You welcomed Kevin with open arms and created a place where he truly felt at home. We are deeply grateful for the kindness, support, and dignity you gave him throughout his time with you.
