Leah Houle

OXFORD / CHARLTON – Leah M.L. (Fournier) Houle, 85, formerly of Orchard Hill Drive, Oxford, died Thursday, February 28, 2008, at the Life Care Center of Auburn. She was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Joseph F. Houle who died in 2007. She is survived by three sons, Raymond F. Houle of Worcester, David J. Houle of Worcester, and Robert M. Houle of Fiskdale; two daughters, Margaret A. Urevich of Sturbridge and Susan M. Gretschel of Auburn; a sister, Jeanette Lewis of Lunenburg, VT; fifteen grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by two daughters, Annette L. Houle of Florida, who died in 2004, and Mary Houle who died in 1942; three brothers, Adrien Fournier, Eugene Fournier, and Archie Fournier, all of Vermont; and two sisters, Blanche Fournier and Rita Lewis, both of Vermont. She was born in Lunenburg, VT, the daughter of the late Joseph and Rose (Boucher) Fournier, and lived in the Worcester County area before moving to Oxford in 1976. Mrs. Houle was a molder at Sprague Electric Company in Worcester for 6 years, retiring many years ago. She also was the joint owner of Brandon Road Market in Dudley for several years. Mrs. Houle was a member of Al-Anon. She loved knitting and crocheting, and enjoyed making and donating hats for premature babies. A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 9, 2008, at Paradis Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oxford. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Memorial calling hours are Sunday, March 9, 2008, from 4-6 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
